All About Me: Visual Autobiographies

Picture

Assignment Outline

Over the next month, we will be creating visual autobiographies that will allow us to learn more about the individuals in our classroom community. Each day, a few students will be “featured” and will be able to share the story of their past, present and future.

What is an autobiography?
An autobiography is a history of a person’s life, written or told by that person. Your autobiography must tell the story of your past, present and future.

So what is a visual autobiography?
It is an autobiography that incorporates visual elements like pictures, artifacts and displays.

In telling your life story, you can include anything that tells who you are, what you enjoy, things you value, accomplishments you are proud of, places you have been and people who are important to you. If there is an item that is extremely valuable to you and is irreplaceable, consider including a photography of it instead. Use your imagination and plan your presentation carefully. This is a unique way to show everyone who you really are, and to let us all get to know each other better!

Writing Hooks:

An interesting topic sentences explains the main idea of your paragraph while "hooking" your reader through descriptive language or an engaging idea. Look at the photos below. If you were to write a story based on the photo, what "hook" would you use to draw your audience in?
